Gunmen kill two police officers, abduct Portuguese expatriate at road construction site in Kogi
Unknown gunmen killed two police officers and abducted an expatriate, Jose Machada, at a construction site in Kogi state today October 24th. A statement by the state police public relations officer, William Aya, says an inspector, Ezekiel Negedu, and a sergeant, Gini John, a sergeant, were killed while on duty along the Obajana-Oshokoshoko-Kabba road.


According to Aya, the abducted expatriate, Jose Machada from Portuguese and other expatriates were inspecting the 45-kilometre Obajana – Kabba Road they were rehabilitating when about 15 gunmen stormed out and attacked them.

The police officers put up a fight against the gunmen. Sadly,  Sergeant John died on the spot while Inspector Negedu died on arrival in hospital.

Aya added that the state police commissioner, Ali Janga, had ordered that the gunmen be fished out and arraigned in court soon.
